We often joke around that we are a kind of matchmaker at M18, the algorithm introducing our client to their ideal candidate. Finding the perfect match between two parties isn’t easy. It takes a lot of research to find the perfect candidate browsing through different profiles and using various search methods. It might feel similar to swiping on dating apps, trying to find the right match, asking for introductions through mutual connections and doing background research prior to meeting them.
During the last few weeks, I have been brooding on the idea of doing a series of blogs comparing these two different fields in the people business. Starting at the beginning of the recruitment process, with a checklist of requirements and ending at (hopefully) finding the one and welcoming them into your life and company for a happily ever after.
Finding a well-fitting person takes perseverance, and just like with dating we’ll face similar obstacles and struggles in the recruitment process. I’ll touch down on the similarities in 3 parts:
- The preparation and search: The importance of having a good resume/profile and a set of requirements.
- The screening process: Talking about well-known concepts as ghosting and catfishing.
- The start (selection) and maintenance of the relationship: because like in the dating world, our clients should not settle for just an okay match.
Part 1 will be posted in two weeks; I hope you are as excited as I am. Looking forward to hearing your experiences and other similarities you may find!
